COMING HOME CONCERT
Over the last decade NIROX has hosted many jazz artists, providing a platform to showcase their craft and creativity. These artists have since graced stages worldwide, and this year we welcome some of our favourites back home, to the Cradle of Humankind, each with their own unique expression and journey.
Jazz lovers come to enjoy a day of eclectic, world class performances courtesy of some of the finest South African jazz artists in the NIROX amphitheatre, including:
- Melanie Scholtz - arriving from New York - performing with her ensemble Bokani Dyer (keys), Benjamin Jephta (bass) and Marlon Witbooi (drums).
- The Offering - featuring the talents of Ndabo Zulu (trumpet), Linda Sikhakhane (saxophone), Zibusiso Makhathini (keys), Dalisu Ndlazi (bass), Sphelelo Mazibuko (drums) and Gontse Makhene (percussion).
- Vivid Afrika reconvenes for the first time in years to present their unique flavour combination of Siya Makuzeni (trombone & voice), McCoy Mrubata (tenor saxophone & flute), Greg Georgiades (oud, bazouki & acoustic guitar), Mlungisi Gegana (double bass), Ashish Joshi (tabla & percussion) and Bernice Boikanyo (drums).
- Benjamin Jephta’s Sextet bring another dimension to the musical mixture with Keenan Ahrends (guitar), Sisonke Xonti (tenor saxophone), Simon Manana (tenor saxophone), Danni McKinnon (baritone saxophone). Thomas Dyani (percussion) and Sphelelo Mazibuko (drums).
Gourmet concert cuisine will be on offer from the Epicurean Emporium - a curated selection of high-end food stalls, with emphasis on healthy and naturally-sourced options.
Bernie’s Bar will continue to ensure elegant hydration throughout the day.
INEOS Grenadier are the official automotive partner of SPRING JAZZ at NIROX 2023.
Gates open at 10h00 on Sunday 3 September 2023.

Children are welcome under parental care to ensure no disruption for other patrons during the performance. The grounds are extensive.

NIROX is a private not-for-profit foundation to benefit the arts. All income is used to maintain the grounds, the artist residency programme, and artist support.
