‘It always seems impossible until it is done’ - Nelson Mandela
Civilization has failed to find lasting and just peace, without resorting to violent conflict.
Moreover we have failed our children, the victims of wars fostered by their elders who are
meant to protect them.
The incidence of children affected by conflicts and war is globally pervasive – in Palestine, Sudan,
DRC, Nigeria and the Ukraine, where over 19,000 children have been forcibly displaced to Russia and Ukrainian occupied territories without the consent of their parents or guardians.
The resolution of conflict lies with ordinary people, acting extraordinarily, not with political
power and vested interests. Creative expression remains one of humanity’s most profound tools through which thoughts, values and actions provide transformation for our betterment. It expresses our innate higher self; as a means to exult excellence and dignity, instil optimism and disempower malignant leaders. It confronts the precept of humanity as a fundamentally flawed species. Through solidarity between ordinary people we can deliver a just and lasting peace.
NIROX is a private not-for-profit foundation to benefit the arts. All income is used to maintain the grounds, the artist residency programme, and artist support.
Wider context:
This concert concentrates on the urgent plight of the 19,000 abducted Ukrainian children, in
cooperation with visiting Ukrainian artists. At the same time, it will draw attention to the
plight of all children affected by conflict globally, including Gaza, Sudan, Nigeria, and more.
